What is AtomicSpark?

AtomicSpark is a website created by Laurence Chase and Christopher Morris in the early Summer of 2007. At first, the site was designed to hold both comics and movies but a decline in comic popularity lead to a removal of the comics section and the spotlight was focused entirely on Movies.

Now, in 2008, AtomicSpark is finally finished and producing some of the best Machinima movies out there. We're friends with Litfusefilms who create some spectacular films and the new "Kip" films by Tim Hylkema.

What games do you use to make movies?

We use the fantastic Source engine created by Valve Software for the popular Halflife series. It's ability to be customised easily is great for us as it makes movie production fast and easy. We use Valves Faceposer, Valve Hammer editor and the popular Garry's mod to create our scenes, sets and effects.

We also use the Battlefield 2 engine in some of our movies to create war scenes epic battles.

Other programs include Adobe After Effects CS3, Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Soundbooth CS3, Sony Vegas 8 and Adobe Premiere CS3 in combination to create our art.

Can I be in one of your movies?
Yes! The more actors we can add to our lists the better. All you've got to have is hamachi and ventrilo and you're all set. But we're not just looking for ingame actors, we're in dire need of some skilled voice artists to play as some characters in our films. Private Message me (Larry) on the forum if you wish to join the Actors team.
How do you remove the HUD? How do you get those camera angles? EXPLAIN PLZ.
Argh, we get so many damned messages about how to remove the ingame Heads up display (HUD) and removing weapons from the screen and sorts of things. Right, I've decided once the website is fully finished in my spare time I'll set up a machinima tutorial on camera angles and basic things you'll need to be able to make your movie. I'll get it done soon but in the meantime heres a quick list:

(You'll need SV_CHEATS set to 1 for these to work)

r_drawviewmodel 0 = removes the gun
cl_drawhud = 0 removes the player hud
Fov 50 = Zooms in the camera a little bit in order to remove the fisheye effect and makes your movies look better :D!
